Saturation Fest is a rad/free festival that happens in downtown Riverside every year. This year they asked me to host a show. 2 Family bands are playing (51D & Kevin Greenspon) plus Wide Streets(LA), Crisis Arm, Rexx(Orange/Burger Records), Tiny Knives (from Portland, OR) and local freaks Judas Beefcake. What more can I say about synth pop Potions? Simply that this album is finely krafted, deftly synthesized, home recorded futuregaze. Robovo is a cosmic cruise liner with Duh Reef being Atlantis, two standout tracks in this immersive metaphysical experience.
He pushes his keyboards, samplers and effects to their respective limits at all times. ‘Cosmic Fidelity’ is as good of an example of the impressive range of a live Potions set that I’ve yet heard committed to tape.
In the Age of Aquarius, this album would fall in the deepwater planetary transcendence to the cosmic infinite. Acquire a copy from the lush Lillerne Tapes.

While the songs are constructed to be rage filled and drunk, and sort of like an ex billionaire gone homeless, there is a very kickback groove to everything. Sure it might be the thunderstorm of a bass and chunky guitars streaming, or it could be the consistently moving drums that are at a not quite punk tempo. 51D seems to stem from having a good time now, and feeling bad about it later. Then repeating the same continuous cycle of merriment and regret over and over, intentionally. Taking the happiness and pain as a human bliss.
